Generic Name: Amoxicillin & Clavulanic Acid
Indications/Uses: is an antibiotic medication used for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections.
Administration: May be taken with or without food: Preferably taken at the start of meals for better absorption & to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to penicillins. History of penicillin-associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction.
Special Precautions: Cross-sensitivity w/ other β-lactam antibiotics eg, cephalosporins. Periodically evaluate renal, hepatic & hematologic functions during prolonged therapy.
Side Effects: Diarrhea, enterocolitis, hemorrhagic/pseudomembranous colitis, gastritis, indigestion, mucocutaneous candidiasis, nausea, vomiting & black hairy tongue.
