Generic Name: BISACODYL
Indications/Uses: Is a laxative that stimulates bowel movements. Used to treat constipation or to empty the bowels before surgery, colonoscopy, x-rays, or other intestinal medical procedure. *may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Administration: Should be taken on an empty stomach: Swallow whole, do not chew or crush. Do not take within 1 hr of antacids, milk or other dairy products.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity. Severe dehydration; bowel condition. Severe abdominal pain w/ nausea & vomiting; intestinal obstruction; inflammation of the bowel.
Special Precautions: Do not exceed recommended dosage. Avoid prolonged use. Caution use in pregnancy and in children. Observe interval of more than 1 hour before taking antacids and milk products.
Side Effects: Diarrhea, abdominal cramping.
